Extrapolating Parametric Survival Models in Health Technology Assessment Using Model Averaging: A Simulation Study

چکیده

Previous work examined the suitability of relying on routine methods model selection when extrapolating survival data in a health technology appraisal setting. Here we explore solutions to improve reliability restricted mean time (RMST) estimates from trial by assessing plausibility and implementing averaging. We compare our previous selecting for extrapolation using Akaike information criterion (AIC) Bayesian (BIC). Our averaging include equal weighting across models falling within established threshold ranges AIC BIC BIC-based weighted averages. apply assessment implement output simulations, where 10,000 runs 12 trial-based scenarios were examined. demonstrate that removing implausible consideration reduces squared error associated with estimate each method increases percentage RMST 10% parameters sampling distribution. The superior single optimal extrapolation, aside some exponential already selected model. wide criterion-based thresholds outperformed BIC-weighted majority scenarios. conclude approaches should feature more widely technologies is influential considerable uncertainty present. Where complicated underlying hazard rates, funders account additional these extrapolations their decision making. Extended follow-up trials be encouraged used review prices therapies ensure fair price paid.

a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns

attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...

a study on rate making and required reserves determination in reinsurance market: a simulation

reinsurance is widely recognized as an important instrument in the capital management of an insurance company as well as its risk management tool. this thesis is intended to determine premium rates for different types of reinsurance policies. also, given the fact that the reinsurance coverage of every company depends upon its reserves, so different types of reserves and the method of their calc...

alternative for the cox regression model: using parametric models to analyze the survival of cancer patients

background: although the cox proportional hazard regression is the most popular model for analyzing the prognostic factors on survival of cancer patients, under certain circumstances, parametric models estimate the parameter more efficiently than the cox model.  the aim of this study was to compare the cox regression model  with parametric models in patients with gastric cancer who registered a...

Collaboration Between Researchers and Knowledge Users in Health Technology Assessment: A Qualitative Exploratory Study

Background Collaboration between researchers and knowledge users is increasingly promoted because it could enhance more evidence-based decision-making and practice. These complex relationships differ in form, in the particular goals they are trying to achieve, and in whom they bring together. Although much is understood about why partnerships form, relatively little is known about how collabora...
